LaMarr Magnus M.S. YogaFit, MBSR LV1
My background in Exercise Psychology/Human Performance and holding positions as a Fitness Director has allowed me to become an expert in the field exercise psychology. In particular with building value and understanding of self as fitness professional. As a credentialed mindfulness instructor, I teach strategies and practices of mindfulness amongst various populations and Chicago area business’s including the Arch Amenities Group, City Colleges of Chicago, the Park District of Park Forest, FitBodies Inc., and Alpha Omega Phi. I have designed mindfulness workshops for young adults as well as older adults.
My current program of research addresses how mindfulness-based interventions can elicit the emotional regulation tactics such as adopting a non-judgmental attitude and developing a sense of awareness of action or agency. Synthesizing the extensive research on mindfulness-based interventions that develop non-judgement and acting with awareness, I am exploring how the principles of non-judgment and instrumental agency are nested within the intervention. I am also exploring how students use the emotional-regulation tactics while evaluating online information, to interrupt confirmation bias in source analysis of controversial political and moral content.
