Consuelo Grier

Consuelo Grier serves as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Bellevue College. Dr. Grier is an experienced non-profit and higher education leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing equity and access for underrepresented and historically excluded populations. Although she is a native Seattleite, in 2006 Consuelo left her home in Seattle and moved across the country to attend Mount Holyoke College as an adult learner in the Frances Perkins program. She attributes this bold move to one of series of choices that changed the trajectory of her life. As a mother and life-long learner, her commitment to infusing equity and inclusion in all areas of leadership has spurred her interest and passion for working across the education spectrum. As a researcher, Dr. Grier has focused on transformational leadership with a lens on the experiences of Black and Latino/a/x leaders in higher education. Consuelo holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from Mount Holyoke College, a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University, Portland, and Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) with a dissertation focused on diversity in higher education leadership from Northcentral University. She provides thought partnership on issues of equity, access, and support across the country to educational organizations, colleges, universities, nonprofits, businesses, and executive leaders through her consulting firm, Brave Space. Recently, Dr. Grier launched the Equity & Diversity Officer Collective (EDOC) to support others working in leadership roles focused on diversity, equity and inclusion through retreats, coaching, and mentorship.
