Dr. MarTeze D. Hammonds is the inaugural Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Arkansas Tech University.

Dr. Hammonds’ recently completed a three year stint at The College of Wooster (Wooster, Ohio) as the Assistant Dean of Students for Retention and Academic Engagement; Associate Director, Center for Diversity and Global Engagement; Director of Multicultural Student Affairs and Head Cheer Coach. Dr. Hammonds’ served as an adjunct communication professor at both the University of Akron (Wayne Campus) and North Central State College (Mansfield, Ohio). Dr. Hammonds completed his doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration in less than two years from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville.
A native of Murray, Kentucky, Dr. Hammonds attended Murray State University where he earned his bachelors of science degree in Theatre and Dance in 2005 and earned a master’s of science degree in organizational communication in December 2006 and a second master’s of science degree in Human Development and Leadership (emphasis in College Student Personnel) in August of 2008. Earning these degrees Dr. Hammonds’ was employed as a member of the Murray State Athletics Department for four years, with two years as the inaugural Academic Counselor. Dr. Hammonds served as an Educational Assistant in the athletics department for one year and Head Cheer Coach for the MSU Cheerleading team for four years. The title of Director of CHAMPS/Life Skills was added to his list of positions. Dr. Hammonds’ fulfilled a one-year stint as the Assistant Director, Multicultural Center at Ball State University (Muncie, Indiana) immediately prior to him moving to Fayetteville as the Graduate Assistant for Greek Housing/University Apartments and fulfilled an internship in the Office of Academic Integrity and Student Conduct (OAISC) where he served as a Graduate Assistant until he graduated.
